That is our family motto this year.
Living intentionally
Philippians 3:12-14 says
"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
We want to be intentional about our lives...forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. We have kept ourselves at arm's length from everything for so long...scared of being hurt. But no longer.
We have finally found a church that we are excited to be a part of. We knew from the moment we walked in and sat down that this was where we were suppose to be. We hadn't darkened the doorway of a church for almost 4 years because of past experiences, but we knew that we needed fellowship and needed to "get our hands dirty." And we want our son to grow up in a community of believers.
This has been a challenging motto for me this year (and it's only February!) but I am committed to mending broken relationships, creating and sustaining new ones, loving my boys better, getting involved in a outreach ministry, pursuing my King and living each day intentionally...with a purpose
So, tell me about your new church! I'm glad you found a church you like. I found one too, but it is not traditional by any means. Many wouldn't even call it a church - I guess that is what I like about it. I'm sick of the status quo. I want something different, something real. What do you like about your church, and what is there that you want your son to be a part of?

Hey Carol!
ReplyDeleteWe knew from the moment we pulled into the parking lot that this was the church we had been looking for. It is only a few years old and they meet at the local elementary school. Everyone was so welcoming. The pastor had a two hour lunch with Ed that week and we love his vision. We have been going for about a month or so now and I am getting involved with a women's group this coming tuesday :). We just know that we know that we know this is where the Lord wants us...and we are ready to get our hand's dirty!
Oh and there are a TON of kids Eddie's age so it is great community for not only him as he gets older but Ed and I as well (with the parents!).
What is your church like? Why would many not call it a church?
